A Market on Broadway
This is a picture of a neighborhood market on Broadway Ave. west of the Spokane County Court House. The market is in the heart of the "West Central" neighborhood. West Central is a community development block grant neighborhood. CBDG means that federal money comes to the city for expenditure in low income neighborhoods. Despite the fact West Central is near downtown Spokane, it is a poor neighborhood "deserving" of federal money. The CBDG program is left over from the Model Cities Programs of the 1970's. I think Richard Nixon was President of the United States at that time.
