
Mount Spokane in the distance. This shot is taken from the West Plains area about five miles east of
Fairchild Air Force Base. We finally have some clear sky. While I was out on the plains the pilots who operate the refueling planes were practicing their landings. Every five minutes or so a plane would come into view, land, and take off. This went on the whole time I was there -- about an hour. This flight group of high altitude
re-fuelers serves all over the world -- from right here in Spokane, Washington. Remarkable! Just think of the dimensions of this local human effort.
